With the first of December right around the corner, it’s time for some Christmas shopping and whether you love it or loath it, it’s always nice to have a bit of help beforehand with some gift ideas (especially if you’re one of those poor souls who leaves their shopping to the last minute). So I’ve compiled together this list of presents that are sure to please your loved ones this Christmas and heck, if that loved one is you, treat yourself too. After all it is the season of giving.
I am an official Owen Drew Candle addict. From my very first one I knew this was the candle brand for me. I mean they are England’s finest luxury candle, so you can’t really ask for more can you? Oh you can? Well, they’re also vegan, cruelty free, don’t produce soot, burn for over 40 hours and are only £25. They really are the holy grail of luxury candles.
Apart from the Christmas Spice and Mulled Pear & Cranberry which I talk about here, the Christmas collection also includes Carols by Candlelight and Incense & Dark Amber. If you are looking for alternatives to that classic Christmas scent but still want that festive winter feel, then these two are for you. Carols by Candlelight is a delightful combination of warm woody notes intertwined with the deep rich scent of myrrh, that when lit provides a soft glow creating the perfect cosy atmosphere. Incense & Dark Amber is the definition of luxury and who doesn’t want a luxurious Christmas. Smoky yet sweet, this candles evokes mystery and intrigue whilst bringing serious decadence to any home.
When the lady responsible for making MAC cosmetics the super brand it is today, Creme de La Mer the most sought after skincare in the world and THAT St Tropez tan advert with Kate Moss, launches a perfume collection you know it’s going to be a huge hit. I was lucky enough to attend the launch of Floral Street, exclusive to Harvey Nichols, and meet the inspiring Michelle Feeney. Floral Street is a collection of eight incredible floral fragrances that have been designed with young, confident, British women in mind. Highly contemporary, each perfume is composed of a unique combination of florals that embody all the different facets of a woman.
I personally loved every single one and after a lot of contemplation, I settled on the fragrance Ylang Ylang Espresso. In addition to the most beautiful bottle I have ever laid my eyes on, this perfume is like nothing I’ve tried before. Floral but with the almost seductive scents of rich coffee and tiramisu. Yes you heard that right tiramisu and it is something you need in your life.
Michelle Feeney has a mission to bring fine affordable fragrance to modern woman and her Floral Street collection has absolutely blown me away. Each 50 ml fragrance is £55 with the travel size (10ml) only £22.
I never thought I’d love a makeup collection created by a celebrity but Fenty Beauty has stolen my heart. I now own the primer (fabulous), foundation (best match ever), conceal and contour (flawless) and several highlighters (glow perfection) and I’m obsessed with it all. However, for Christmas the one item I would recommend is the Gloss Bomb lip gloss. At £16 it is the perfect universal shade that feels incredible on the lips, not sticky at all and the shine is on a whole new level compared to ones I’ve tried before. Since it suits every skin tone and complexion, the Gloss Bomb makes the perfect stress free gift. Plus if you want to earn extra brownie points, whilst you’re buying the Gloss bomb, book your loved one in for a whole Fenty Face makeover with foundation colour match. You won’t regret it.
Everyone needs this palette in their collection. The range of warm shades are absolutely gorgeous. Of course just like all Urban Decay eyeshadows, the pigmentation is amazing. The shimmers have the best colour payoff but I am also very impressed with the matte shades which are easy to build and blend like a dream. The one thing that stands out for me with this palette is that the colours are suitable for all complexions and ages (we all know nan’s need a bit of Naked Heat in their life) as well as being great to create both day and night looks.
I’m just going to leave these photos here and let you gaze at its beauty!
Last but not least is something for the bath. Everyone needs bath products and who doesn’t love a long soak? I know we all hate to be that person who looks like they picked up a present last minute, but these aren’t just any old bath stuff. No, these pick ‘n’ mix style beauties may be small but they sure do pack a punch. A combination of bath bombs and bubble bars in an array of flavours they make bath time incredibly fun and make great stocking fillers at only £1.50 each.
However, I promise once you get onto The Body Shop website you won’t be able to leave with just one item, so I’d definitely pick up one of the luxuriously creamy shower gels (£5) and body butters (£15). I have both in coconut and all I can say is that there is a reason it’s called The Body Shop. My skin is so soft and smooth, I’m not afraid to bare my legs in public even in this freezing cold weather.
It’s at this point that I’m going to mention The Grinch and how the reason he hates Christmas is because it only seems to be about gift giving and in the end all those presents get sent to him at Mount Crumpit in the Who’s rubbish. Why am I mentioning this? Well, how many presents have you received that you’ve never used or used once to be put away in a cupboard and thrown out at a later date? So, although some of these items have been kindly gifted for me to review, I truly think they would make fabulous presents and every product here I will be repurchasing once they are finished. In fact, I’m actually keeping my fingers crossed my friends and family read this blog post so that I might be lucky enough to open a new Owen Drew candle or a Floral Street fragrance on Christmas morning. Mum I’m looking at you!
