Well here we are LOCKDOWN! I hope you’re all doi Well here we are LOCKDOWN! I hope you’re all doing ok?
I’ve been thinking about what I’m going to do over this time period and how to get the most out of it.
Being the final 6 months of my PhD, I will have to start writing my thesis now instead of later but to break that time up with more fun things (not that science isn’t fun 🙄). I’m thinking baking, play the piano and experimenting with makeup! It doesn’t matter that no one is going to see my makeup or hear me play, I’m doing it for me but at the same time I’m not going to force myself to do to anything I don’t feel like or feel pressured to learn something new or start something big just because we have this time.
I think it’s important to take a break and reset without anything or anyone sucking your energy. Only do things that you really want to and help you feel better now and for the future when this is over.
What are your plans for lockdown?
For me makeup is art. Your face is the canvas and For me makeup is art. Your face is the canvas and the fact you can take any colour/finish/texture and create something that completely reflects your personality and mood is amazing and yes maybe it also fuels my need to have so many pretty palettes!! The @jackieaina @anastasiabeverlyhills eyeshadow palette is incredible! The colours are soooooo pigmented but still really wearable. It’s like a work of art itself.

Who else loves earrings?! I really need to wear th Who else loves earrings?! I really need to wear them more often because 1. Jabbing them through the piercing that has been empty for months is no fun and games 😂 and 2. They just elevate your look to the next level!! Seriously, whether they’re long, studs, gold, sparkly, colourful, patterned, they make me feel so put together. 2020 is my year for accessorising!
Gifted| Back to work and I’m really not here for Gifted| Back to work and I’m really not here for it! What I am here for is these natural Wispies eyelashes from @ardellbeauty. I do love false lashes but because I don’t have a lot of lid space, I find they always look heavy and unnatural on me so I give up and they get shoved in a drawer. That’s why I was dubious at first with these but the second I put them on, I fell in love. The natural style adds volume to my lashes without looking heavy and really do pass as being my own, even in person!! They’re easy to put on as the band is nice and flexible and stay put throughout the day. These are my lashes for sure! Have you tried Ardell lashes before?

Makeup Revolution My Sign Libra

I’m a Libra – Makeup Revolution My Sign

Obviously I understand that the kind of person you are is not really determined by your star sign, but I have to admit I am particularly fond of being a Libra. It’s not as exciting as the other star signs like Scorpio or Leo, and I’m not sure the ‘balanced’ scales really represent my very unbalanced personality, but when Nasa tried to tell everyone the star signs were now wrong and I was in fact a Virgo, I definitely showed some very un-Libra characteristics!

Us Libras are (supposed to be) the epitome of calm and rational behaviour. Harmonious, thoughtful, with a dash of romance, and when Makeup Revolution brought out a new range of eyeshadows and lip glosses for each star sign, I wondered whether I would be falling in love with my astrological makeup.

The eyeshadow part of this collection is a wheel palette consisting of an eyeshadow primer, three shadows (specific for your sign), highlighter and two half shadows for eyebrows. You also receive a little booklet with your horoscope for 2017 which I think is a nice little touch.

When I first saw the colours, I was a little disappointed. As Libra is all about being neutral and balanced, there wasn’t any pop of colour, or any shades that looked really interesting, but I decided to make my mind up after doing some swatches.

Surprisingly I really liked these shades. The purples are really beautiful, and still neutral enough that you can easily use them as part of an every day look. The pigmentation is not too bad. Certainly not high-end makeup quality, but with a bit of time building them up and blending, they would create some stunning eye looks. The eyebrow powders are also good. Great coverage, little fall out and are the perfect shades for my dark brows. The only slightly disappointing part is the highlight. It was very difficult to transfer any product from the brush to my face, and instead I will probably use a splash of water and use this shade to highlight my inner eye corner.

Next is the matching Libra gloss. Again initially I wasn’t bowled over by the pinky nude shade of this gloss and only got the gloss to complete the collection. However, I was seriously impressed and actually preferred this to the eyeshadow palette!

The gloss has a traditional doe-foot applicator that allows easy application. The gloss itself is very pigmented with a seriously glossy finish. I found it had a slight stickiness, but nothing like some lip glosses I have tried. Here, is me wearing the Libra lip gloss and I think even without seeing all of my face you can tell I’m loving it!! *pouty duck face in action*

Overall, for £5 for the eyeshadow palette, and £3 for the lip gloss, I think this is a lovely little set and certainly something that would make a perfect gift. Obviously, you don’t have to stick to your sign either! I’d be half tempted to get them all, or at least pretend to get them for friends before “accidentally” keeping them myself. Not at all Libra of me!

Apparently I’m in for a bit of a rough time emotionally this Spring (not surprised with the amount I spend on makeup!), but by June I should be back on track.

Fingers crossed for a great 2017!

Scorpio Stare!! Love it! The Scorpio set has some stunning purples! In fact my mum is a Scorpio and I’m considering getting her (and I borrow) the eyeshadow set because the shades look really pretty. Plus I think the quality of the Libra set is pretty good, especially given the price, so I’d be confident of liking any of the others. xx

The gemini one is really pretty with that green. I feel like green eyeshadow is definitely going to become a trend soon. I love it! Thank you. The gloss does feel so nice on and I couldn’t believe how cheap it was!! xx
