I am still having a huge love affair with liquid lipsticks. I honestly don’t know what I did before they existed. Most likely I was reapplying my lipstick every five minutes and have it end up all round my mouth after every meal. Ain’t nobody got time for that!
When it comes to liquid lipsticks there are three things I look for:
Doesn’t dry my lips out
I’ve tried many different brands of liquid lipsticks but one name on everyones lips is Jouer.
Jouer have the most amazing range of lipsticks, including every colour under the sun and a range of finishes from a classic matte to a mesmerising metallic. When I first went on the Cult Beauty website to treat myself to a couple new Jouer lippies, I was like a kid in a sweet shop. Well actually I was an adult in a makeup shop and that is far more exciting! After having to stop myself going crazy and adding lipstick after lipstick to my shopping cart, I eventually settled on Long-Wear Lip Creme Liquid Lipsticks in Praline and Brique.
All Jouer liquid lipsticks claim to be weightless and offer full coverage that lasts all day. All my needs in one sentence. They also contain vitamin e to help condition your lips, are free from parabens and are not tested on animals. Nice one Jouer! The applicators are a traditional doe-foot, and the wand is just the right length to allow full control when applied. The square design and handle is ever so slightly awkward to hold but not to the extent it affects application, and it’s nice to see a more unique lipstick tube. They also have a subtle vanilla sweet scent, making Praline in particular smell good enough to eat!
First up is Brique. This lipstick is part of Jouer’s fall collection, and even though it was brought out in Autumn it is such a gorgeous colour, I would wear it any day of the year. It is a warm brick red with a matte finish, and it’s possibly my favourite red out of my entire lipstick collection. It glides on like a dream, with full even coverage after only one thin layer. You can barely feel it on your lips and it dries in a matter of minutes if not one, to leave that perfect statement red lip. In terms of longevity, when I wore it for the first time it lasted all day, and only needed a small touch up in the centre of my lips after scoffing a whole pizza. It is definitely one of the least drying liquid lipsticks I have tried, and only after wearing this for 8 hours straight did I started to feel my lips lacked moisture.
Next is Praline, which is described as a metallic cool bronzed pink and that’s exactly what it is. The finish is beautiful. Definitely metallic but not so over the top you feel like you might blind someone with your pout. This one applies even better than Brique (probably because of the creamier finish), and it is featherlight. Again this shade is definitely a statement colour, but I would encourage everyone to give it a go even if it’s not a shade you would usually choose as it is so beautiful I can see it complementing a range of skin tones. Just like Brique, it lasted all day and was extremely comfortable to wear.
Each Jouer Long-Wear Lip Creme Liquid Lipstick is £15, which is pretty standard for a high-end lipstick these days, and I think the quality definitely lives up to the price. So much so I am already wanting to add more to my collection.
