Well here we are LOCKDOWN! I hope you’re all doi Well here we are LOCKDOWN! I hope you’re all doing ok?
I’ve been thinking about what I’m going to do over this time period and how to get the most out of it.
Being the final 6 months of my PhD, I will have to start writing my thesis now instead of later but to break that time up with more fun things (not that science isn’t fun 🙄). I’m thinking baking, play the piano and experimenting with makeup! It doesn’t matter that no one is going to see my makeup or hear me play, I’m doing it for me but at the same time I’m not going to force myself to do to anything I don’t feel like or feel pressured to learn something new or start something big just because we have this time.
I think it’s important to take a break and reset without anything or anyone sucking your energy. Only do things that you really want to and help you feel better now and for the future when this is over.
What are your plans for lockdown?

The @jackieaina @anastasiabeverlyhills eyeshadow palette is incredible! The colours are soooooo pigmented but still really wearable. It’s like a work of art itself.

Who else loves earrings?! I really need to wear th Who else loves earrings?! I really need to wear them more often because 1. Jabbing them through the piercing that has been empty for months is no fun and games 😂 and 2. They just elevate your look to the next level!! Seriously, whether they’re long, studs, gold, sparkly, colourful, patterned, they make me feel so put together. 2020 is my year for accessorising!
Gifted| Back to work and I’m really not here for Gifted| Back to work and I’m really not here for it! What I am here for is these natural Wispies eyelashes from @ardellbeauty. I do love false lashes but because I don’t have a lot of lid space, I find they always look heavy and unnatural on me so I give up and they get shoved in a drawer. That’s why I was dubious at first with these but the second I put them on, I fell in love. The natural style adds volume to my lashes without looking heavy and really do pass as being my own, even in person!! They’re easy to put on as the band is nice and flexible and stay put throughout the day. These are my lashes for sure! Have you tried Ardell lashes before?

A Love Affair with Beauty goes Camping

Put on your favourite playlist, ours is the 90s delight that is the Spice Girls, sit back and immerse yourself in A Love Affair with Beauty’s camping adventure.

It all started when a few friends and myself decided a little bank holiday trip would be the perfect getaway to fully relax and get away from the city. We eventually settled on a lovely little campsite located just outside Bala, which for those of you who don’t know is a small village in North Wales. In fact, it’s just a twenty minute drive from my childhood home, and we actually drove right past my street. This was a bit worrying at the time, as I genuinely thought my friends might be tricking me, and I was trying to rack my brain for any bad things I’d done in case this was actually an intervention set up by my mum!

So we packed the car with tonnes of clothes, yummy food and of course make up, and off we went, completely ready to Spice up our lives.

Now as you may have noticed from the plethora of flip flops suddenly making an appearance, Britain was having a serious heatwave. Of course, this meant we were in full summer mode, and expected the weekend to be no different. Kitted out in shorts and sandals, as we got closer and closer to our destination, it dawned on us that the weather like can totally change every day like, and it was not pleasant. Cue my A Love Affair with Beauty Babe becoming seriously distressed that she wouldn’t be able to wear her thong bikini bottoms, she’d brought for this trip. Did I mention this trip was to Bala. Bala, North Wales. Lmao!

So we eventually get to our destination, and although our outfits looked out of place, our enthusiasm certainly wasn’t. The owners of the campsite were so welcoming and friendly, and Lindsey showed us to our home for the weekend, with no judgment on our seriously ill thought out clothing!

The tent was just right for the four of us, with really comfortable beds, a gas stove and a stunning view. We moved our suitcases into the tent and sat down for the most amazing chowder and sour dough bread dinner, made by my A Love affair with Beauty Belle.

After dinner, quite a few whiskey sours and Liverpool Gin G&Ts, we got into bed and fell asleep to the soothing voice of the one and only David Attenborough – Africa.

Morning involved a delicious croissant with bacon, avocado and mayo, along with a little visit by one of the owner’s many lovely animals.

We then decided, big, bright makeup was the way forward. Orange lipstick and glitter galore, we set off for a trip into town. We were ready for Bala, but was Bala ready for us?

After a day spent canoeing on Lake Bala, singing Disney songs at the top of our voices, we got back to the campsite, to indulge on burgers and chicken, that were cooked the only way food should be cooked when camping, on a campfire!

After scoffing loads of marshmallows softened over the fire, we were shown around the campsite by Lindsey and Pat to see all their amazing animals. If you’re an animal lover, you just must visit this place. As well as some cheeky emu’s and many other birds, they have William the goat and Mr Hogley the boar, who naughtily got Betty the micro-pig preggers which means for the moment there are eight gorgeous little piglets!

They also have an amazing collection of bird’s of prey. Pat gave us a little information about each one, and then actually let us have a go at holding the owls! Move over Harry Potter!

Seeing all the animals really was the cherry on top of a fabulous cake.

If you ever get a bit sick of work, people, noise, or life, I definitely recommend staying here. It was so nice to get away for a bit, there is not a smidgen of internet in this part of Wales by the way, and just fully immerse ourselves in the natural surroundings.

This actually sounds like so much fun! I swore I would never go camping again after doing D of E at school lmaoo, but this actually sounds really idyllic – especially getting away from busy cities and even the internet, to summer so natural. Loved the line ‘we were ready for Bala, but was Bala ready for us?’ – made me chuckle!

Oh yes I remember camping with D of E. So painful! Camping usually isn’t my sort of thing at all, but I think being able to actually spend time with my friends just relaxing, and in a tent with proper beds and a cooker made things so much more enjoyable! Plus I’m a sucker for cute animals!
