Jo Malone needs no introduction.
Her deep understanding of smell along with her ability to combine ingredients is so unique that her perfumes are instantly recognisable. She is the queen of fragrance.
For me perfume is strongly associated with memories and this is something that is at the heart of every Jo Malone perfume. Whether it’s the smell of baking with your family in your childhood home, countryside walks through fields of flowers or an adventure filled holiday, fragrance takes you through sensory doorways that link smell with your emotions.
So when Jo Malone sold her business filled with those beautiful cream and black packages and opened Jo Loves I was of course going to follow and join her on a fragrance journey.
Situated on Elizabeth Street in London, Jo Loves is a sensory delight the second you step through the door. Decorated in white with accents of red (Jo’s favourite colour) it is the epitome of style and elegance. They always keep the door closed, which combined with the simplicity of the decor allows your eyes and ears to relax so the scents in the air are the only stimulant for your senses.
I could spend hours perusing the perfumes and candles on display but luckily you can book in for the complimentary Fragrance Tapas experience which allows you to explore the world of Jo Loves.
The Fragrance Tapas begins with a complete run through of the perfumes and the story behind each one. The team at Jo Loves are incredibly warm and friendly as well as being experts on every single perfume so you really feel like you’re there with Jo when she was creating these scents.
Next I had the difficult task of picking three scents for my personal plate of scented tapas.
First was the Mango Thai Lime cleanser which was shaken over ice and strained into a martini glass. The exotic smell of mango with kaffir lime and black pepper is the perfect mix of sweet and sharp with a zesty twist, the perfect holiday fragrance.
Next, Pink Vetiver bath cologne was warmed within a tagine and a cloud of scented steam was released filling my senses with a combination of pink peppercorns and spicy cardamom.
Lastly, whipped White Rose & Lemon Leaves Lotion was painted gently onto my skin allowing my fragrance experience to continue long after I left the store.
As mentioned previously, this experience is completely complimentary but it is best to book early. Even if you can’t book in for your next trip to London, Jo Loves is a must-visit. There isn’t one perfume I don’t like which to be honest doesn’t surprise me with Jo Malone. Plus when you see her innovative products: Fan Yourself with Fragrance and a Fragrance Paintbrush you’re going to want to visit yesterday.
