Yes that’s me in a huge bed with two other girls, I bet you’re wondering how I got there.
Well on Saturday the 16th of September I attended the first Northern Blog Awards. Hosted by the gorgeous Holly Wood founder of WeBlogNorth and held at the spectacular Principal Hotel in Manchester, this was a night to recognise northern content creators and celebrate all they have to offer the amazing world of blogging. A night filled with fun, food and fabulous friends and it all started with me sitting on my hard wood floor for an hour and a half trying tame my unruly hair into an updo.
Yup after somehow thinking I had any sort of skill with styling hair, I managed to stick enough kirby grips to get it to stay put and have a friend rush over to squeeze me into my gorgeous black KU by Spendlove sequin floor length gown. Six hours later and ta da!! I was ready to go.
I was in awe the second I got to the venue. Shimmying down a red carpet with the beautiful Sophia from Beautywithwispa, being photographed by The Vain Photos I felt like a movie star. A very welcome glass of prosecco and we were invited into a ballroom so elegant I was staring for such a long time I didn’t even realise I’d drank every drop from my glass.
The tables were decorated with candles, marble name cards (ArtsyNibs) and rose gold sweet treats (Hey Little Cupcake!). After an excited glance at the menu, I enjoyed my chilled glass of rose whilst laughing and chatting with Sophia and Ginny about our three loves Blogging, Dogs and of course Beauty.
This was followed by a welcome speech from Holly and an important presentation from Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice, the NBAs charity partner who shared stories with us about the incredible work they do to support families with children with life-shortening conditions.
The food was obviously amazing. The definition of Instagrammable and I took photos as quickly as I could so I could devour every dish. Beetroot carpaccio, twenty-four hour slow cooked Angus beef and I’m still having dreams about the praline cream filled choux pastry! This wasn’t just any 3 course meal, this was a delightfully delicious Northern Blog Awards 3 course meal.
Next it was The Awards!!
All I can say is we have some serious talent up here in the North. There were so many amazing blogs in every category and a huge congratulations to all the winners. It’s great to see so much passion in the blogging community and I have loved discovering new people to follow.
Thanks to the amazing sponsors, the three of us spent the evening taking cheeky snaps in the Key 103 photobooth, previewing a Great Northern Christmas by Booths and I came close to actually trying to takeaway Bathroom Takeaway’s bath it was that pretty. The speech bubble wasn’t lying, I love me some bubbles!
Finally we all jumped into bed with Christy. Now I’m always pretty smug about how comfortable my bed is and I should know as I spend most of my free time napping or just lying all cosy watching Netflix but this bed was something else! I could have stayed there all night. However, unfortunately it was time for me to grab my train back home (boooo) but Sophia and Ginny kept the party spirit alive for me and boogied the night away to live music provided by the Stalagmites.
I had an amazing time at the Northern Blog Awards. I cannot thank Holly, her team and all the Sponsors (Christy England, Thoughtmix and many more) enough for organising what was truly magical evening. I encourage people to not only check out WeBlogNorth for future events and join the fun but to also head over to the Forget Me Not site and help raise money for the Children’s Hospice. As part of the goodie bag, the thing I loved most was the packet of forget me not seeds which I will be planting in my garden to enjoy and watch blossom.
Oh and my rose gold cupcake? It was the perfect Sunday breakfast.
