Well here we are LOCKDOWN! I hope you’re all doi Well here we are LOCKDOWN! I hope you’re all doing ok?
I’ve been thinking about what I’m going to do over this time period and how to get the most out of it.
Being the final 6 months of my PhD, I will have to start writing my thesis now instead of later but to break that time up with more fun things (not that science isn’t fun 🙄). I’m thinking baking, play the piano and experimenting with makeup! It doesn’t matter that no one is going to see my makeup or hear me play, I’m doing it for me but at the same time I’m not going to force myself to do to anything I don’t feel like or feel pressured to learn something new or start something big just because we have this time.
I think it’s important to take a break and reset without anything or anyone sucking your energy. Only do things that you really want to and help you feel better now and for the future when this is over.
What are your plans for lockdown?
For me makeup is art. Your face is the canvas and For me makeup is art. The @jackieaina @anastasiabeverlyhills eyeshadow palette is incredible! The colours are soooooo pigmented but still really wearable. It’s like a work of art itself.

Who else loves earrings?! I really need to wear th Who else loves earrings?! I really need to wear them more often because 1. Jabbing them through the piercing that has been empty for months is no fun and games 😂 and 2. They just elevate your look to the next level!! Seriously, whether they’re long, studs, gold, sparkly, colourful, patterned, they make me feel so put together. 2020 is my year for accessorising!
Gifted| Back to work and I’m really not here for Gifted| Back to work and I’m really not here for it! What I am here for is these natural Wispies eyelashes from @ardellbeauty. I do love false lashes but because I don’t have a lot of lid space, I find they always look heavy and unnatural on me so I give up and they get shoved in a drawer. That’s why I was dubious at first with these but the second I put them on, I fell in love. The natural style adds volume to my lashes without looking heavy and really do pass as being my own, even in person!! They’re easy to put on as the band is nice and flexible and stay put throughout the day. These are my lashes for sure! Have you tried Ardell lashes before?

Queen for the Day

I’ve always liked the idea of being a princess or a queen, mostly because I’ve always wanted to wear a crown, huge sparkling diamonds, rich rubies and deep violet amethysts all in a gorgeous golden halo. Yes please.

Unfortunately, now that Harry is taken, good on ya Meghan, my already slim chance of being real royalty is over but that wasn’t going to stop me living out my dream and becoming Her Royal Highness for a day.

So if I was queen, how would I rule and more importantly what would I wear?

First, I’d have to wear something completely luxurious to go with my crown. I picked this golden flute sleeved top from Toast, which looks and feels like real spun gold. I paired this with an opulent purple with gold embroidery silk skirt also from Toast.

Of course as a queen I can never wear enough gold, so I finished off my look with these sandals from TK Maxx (every royal loves a good bargain), and a crown from the Amazon gods.

As queen, my makeup needs to be perfect too and only one eyeshadow palette will do, the Queen of Hearts palette by Coloured Raine.

I am a big fan of warm eyeshadows and this one certainly ticks the box. As well as gorgeous orange and bronze shades, this palette is filled with jewel tones in a variety of finishes. A mix of mattes, glitters and metallics, it is the jewellery box of eyeshadows. The pigmentation and blend-ability is incredible regardless of finish and the matte shades are so buttery they rival those in the ABH cult palette Modern Renaissance.

It takes very little effort to get a high opacity finish with little fallout, especially from the foil shades. Each shadow can easily be paired with any of the others making it extremely versatile, which for an eyeshadow magpie like myself makes it difficult to decide which ones to use and not just apply every shade at once.

The only criticism I have and it is a very small one, is that some of the shades, particularly Royal Highness (top row, 2nd) and Noblewoman (bottom row, 3rd) are more taupe on the skin than the mauve and red/purple tone you see in the pan.

The packaging itself is full on royal vibes and includes a mirror to top up your look wherever your chauffeur driven car (that’s the bus for me) takes you!

Now my royal look is complete, it’s time to set out my royal rules:

  1. Three day weekend. Obviously.
  2. Pizza would be a compulsory meal at least once a week.
  3. Hats. I want hats to be a thing again. I don’t have good enough hair to cope with the British weather.
  4. I am allowed to borrow anyone’s pet dog for as long as I want, preferably a sausage dog, but any dog will make me happy.
  5. Pumpkin Spice Lattes and other festive drinks will be in coffee shops all year round.
  6. Optional nap time at work whenever you want.
  7. I’d bring flip phones back. I miss my Motorola.
  8. All children must be brought up having listened to all the Spice Girls albums.
  9. A Sephora in every major city.
  10. More pizza.

Wow! You look wonderful in each photo, I love how you’ve styled such a statement skirt and completely rocked that crown! Your writing style is lovely too, alike the circular swatches of the coloured raine palette.

Thank you so much. I was really nervous with the photoshoot as it was a public place and people were looking at me constantly. I hate that it is winter and I can’t just sneak out really early to take photos before people come out! However, I am really glad I sucked it up and did it as I loved wearing the outfit and my tiara!! X

Love the look dear, especially the skirt, purple with gold detailing is definitely fit for royalty. The rules though, a three day weekend and pumpkin spiced lattes all year round needs to be a thing, lol.
