Well here we are LOCKDOWN! I hope you’re all doi Well here we are LOCKDOWN! I hope you’re all doing ok?
I’ve been thinking about what I’m going to do over this time period and how to get the most out of it.
Being the final 6 months of my PhD, I will have to start writing my thesis now instead of later but to break that time up with more fun things (not that science isn’t fun 🙄). I’m thinking baking, play the piano and experimenting with makeup! It doesn’t matter that no one is going to see my makeup or hear me play, I’m doing it for me but at the same time I’m not going to force myself to do to anything I don’t feel like or feel pressured to learn something new or start something big just because we have this time.
I think it’s important to take a break and reset without anything or anyone sucking your energy. Only do things that you really want to and help you feel better now and for the future when this is over.
What are your plans for lockdown?

The @jackieaina @anastasiabeverlyhills eyeshadow palette is incredible! The colours are soooooo pigmented but still really wearable. It’s like a work of art itself.

Who else loves earrings?! I really need to wear th Who else loves earrings?! I really need to wear them more often because 1. Jabbing them through the piercing that has been empty for months is no fun and games 😂 and 2. They just elevate your look to the next level!! Seriously, whether they’re long, studs, gold, sparkly, colourful, patterned, they make me feel so put together. 2020 is my year for accessorising!
Gifted| Back to work and I’m really not here for Gifted| Back to work and I’m really not here for it! What I am here for is these natural Wispies eyelashes from @ardellbeauty. I do love false lashes but because I don’t have a lot of lid space, I find they always look heavy and unnatural on me so I give up and they get shoved in a drawer. That’s why I was dubious at first with these but the second I put them on, I fell in love. The natural style adds volume to my lashes without looking heavy and really do pass as being my own, even in person!! They’re easy to put on as the band is nice and flexible and stay put throughout the day. These are my lashes for sure! Have you tried Ardell lashes before?

Harvey Nichols Spa Showcase

Have you ever watched The Secret Garden? That magical moment when she unlocks the hidden door and goes inside to see what wonders await her? Well last week, I had my own secret garden moment after receiving an invitation to the Harvey Nichols Spa Showcase. Situated on the top floor of Beauty Bazaar, the spa is home to some of the best beauty packages and bespoke treatments Liverpool has to offer.

A chance to discover this luxurious spa retreat, the event promised a night filled with live demonstrations from a variety of leading skincare brands the moment you stepped out of the lift.

Whether you’re after relaxation, quick results or just some simple rejuvenation, Harvey Nichols Spa have a treatment for you. After checking out everything on offer here are my top picks:

ESPA

Espa are focused on improving your skin the natural way. From a 25 minute (£35*) skincare experience to a 45 minute (£50*) personalised facial, both aim to give instant long-term results using high quality natural products. Espa facials include skin analysis using a fancy gadget to determine the best products for you. After emphatically proclaiming my skin is oily to the core, I was extremely surprised to find it’s actually dehydrated with dry patches. This means it’s important for me to stay clear of overly harsh cleansers and acne products. Instead, by increasing my exfoliation and drinking more water, I should be well on my way to beautifully balanced skin. I wonder, if I finally achieve balanced skin do you think it will balance my whole life out too?!

(Me looking sheepish at the fact I drink four coffees a day and no water!)

La Mer

You know you’re about to have the most luxurious facial ever when the name La Mer is involved. Famed for their cult moisturising products, this is the Creme de la (Mer)Creme of facials. The 1 hour Custom Facial (£100*) is the most expensive on the Harvey Nichols Spa menu but hey we all deserve a treat once in a while right? As well as being utterly indulgent, La Mer experts use advanced massage techniques to address your unique skin concerns. In just a matter of moments and a flurry of hand movements, the models cheeks were visibly lifted and naturally radiant. I was so impressed by the results of this facial, I’m going to start saving immediately. Who said a face lift has to be painful!

Rodial

Of course my favourite brand has to be included in this list. Dragon’s Blood, Pink Diamond, Bee Venom, Rose Gold and more, when it comes to skincare Rodial has you covered. Recommended by dermatologists, each range has been developed for specific skin concerns. Each facial is 45 minutes (£50*) and if you’re lucky enough to visit the Harvey Nichols Spa in Liverpool, you’ll also get the added bonus of being looked after by Faye. My Rodial Queen, she tailors my facials depending on whether I have breakouts, dullness, redness or a general lack of hydration, leaving me with a new found confidence in my skin every time.

All of the facials take place in personal treatment rooms, providing the perfect respite from the hustle and bustle of the outside world. What’s even better, is that the treatment costs* mentioned above are redeemable on the corresponding brand products. So if you do decide to buy that pricey La Mer moisturiser at £120, you’re basically getting the facial for free!! Other Brands who offer facials include Elemis, Dermalogica, Environ and home to the amazing cult cleansing balm, Eve Lom.

Tired from all that relaxing, it was time to head onto the MediSpa for a much needed energy boost.

Reviv

Ever feel like every single day is a struggle? Chances are you could be deficient in vitamin B12, which is crucial for normal nervous system function and red blood cell formation. Personally, some days I struggle to get out of bed even after 8 hours of sleep. I’ve started taking vitamin supplements which will hopefully help but to get that initial boost I turn to Reviv.

Reviv are global leaders of vitamin and nutrient IV and injections. As well as five IV treatments, Reviv offer four injections targeting a variety of wellness needs. Unlike oral vitamins which need to pass through your digestive tract, direct delivery via a booster shot means you get 100% absorption. All Reviv clinics are led by highly qualified doctors and licensed medical staff with years of experience, so the only thing you need to worry about is which treatment to pick. I chose Slimboost (£39) which contains a blend of B12, Methionine Inositol Choline and amino acids to stimulate metabolism. You can have it administered in your bum (cheeky!) but I chose my more readily accessible shoulder muscle. If you are wary of needles, don’t be afraid as it literally takes seconds and a pre-treatment localised numbing spray is available.

I can honestly say I woke up the next morning feeling so alive (cue Frankenstein screams). Not being on red bull, ready to climb Mount Everest alive but the day didn’t feel so much of an endless slog. In addition to improving sleep regulation, regular treatments of Slimboost promotes natural weight loss which is ideal for my next Harvey Nichols Spa stop…

ZeroFat

You know that saying “It does what it says on the tin”? Well, this sci-fi-esque machine is the queen of that phrase. It takes serious persuasion to get me to sweat for something I hate but the ZeroFat iR1 has done it! The iR1 combines low-impact cardio with breakthrough light therapy to help shed pounds fast.

Offering an alternative to traditional exercise methods, it provides an effective private workout, regardless of your ability. Elevating your core temperature helps to burn up to 800 calories per session ultimately promoting fat breakdown. The infrared light also improves circulation, eliminating cellulite as well as stimulating collagen production. The list of benefits the ZeroFat claims to provide is endless so in true ALoveAffairwithBeauty fashion I had to give it a try. A single session is £25 and I have booked in for the recommended 10-session course (£200). So starting from the end of February I’ll be getting into shape the ZeroFat way. Before and after photos will be taken!

It’s showtime at the Harvey Nichols Spa!

Yeah we definitely all need to take some time out to relax. The way I see it, I’d rather spend a bit of money getting a proper intensive pamper session and just treat myself once in a while! x

I’d never heard about Reviv until this event either, but it’s really popular and I think if you know you need a boost in certain vitamins it’s a much more effective way than trying to remember to take a tablet every day! xx
