Well here we are LOCKDOWN! I hope you’re all doi Well here we are LOCKDOWN! I hope you’re all doing ok?
I’ve been thinking about what I’m going to do over this time period and how to get the most out of it.
Being the final 6 months of my PhD, I will have to start writing my thesis now instead of later but to break that time up with more fun things (not that science isn’t fun 🙄). I’m thinking baking, play the piano and experimenting with makeup! It doesn’t matter that no one is going to see my makeup or hear me play, I’m doing it for me but at the same time I’m not going to force myself to do to anything I don’t feel like or feel pressured to learn something new or start something big just because we have this time.
I think it’s important to take a break and reset without anything or anyone sucking your energy. Only do things that you really want to and help you feel better now and for the future when this is over.
What are your plans for lockdown?

The @jackieaina @anastasiabeverlyhills eyeshadow palette is incredible! The colours are soooooo pigmented but still really wearable. It’s like a work of art itself.

Who else loves earrings?! I really need to wear th Who else loves earrings?! I really need to wear them more often because 1. Jabbing them through the piercing that has been empty for months is no fun and games 😂 and 2. They just elevate your look to the next level!! Seriously, whether they’re long, studs, gold, sparkly, colourful, patterned, they make me feel so put together. 2020 is my year for accessorising!
Gifted| Back to work and I’m really not here for Gifted| Back to work and I’m really not here for it! What I am here for is these natural Wispies eyelashes from @ardellbeauty. I do love false lashes but because I don’t have a lot of lid space, I find they always look heavy and unnatural on me so I give up and they get shoved in a drawer. That’s why I was dubious at first with these but the second I put them on, I fell in love. The natural style adds volume to my lashes without looking heavy and really do pass as being my own, even in person!! They’re easy to put on as the band is nice and flexible and stay put throughout the day. These are my lashes for sure! Have you tried Ardell lashes before?

The Perfect night’s sleep with Owen Drew

I love sleep. I live for lazy lie-ins, cosy nights with peaceful dreams and cheeky daytime naps. At least I think I do. It’s just that I can’t recall the last time I actually had a good night’s rest.

Maybe when I was in high school? Probably not, as I was too busy killing my hair with straighteners and worrying if that cute guy with the pretty eyes fancied me or not. Perhaps university was when my love affair with my bed began? I was certainly queen of the 3pm snooze but with exam preparation and parties till dawn (well 2am, I’m not that wild) my “dead” of night was more of a “toss and turn” of night.

I know for a fact I don’t get a decent kip now! The PhD life is constant with not even the weekends safe from the call of the laboratory. Science doesn’t care about your need to go Saturday shopping and get that cute little handbag. Most nights I can get into bed utterly exhausted and still be lying there hours later, wide awake my thoughts churning. It’s even reached the point where I dream about my work. Nobody can say I don’t put the hours in that’s for sure. The longer I think about it, the more my hypochondriac self questions whether I’ve slept well since I was born. What if it’s not even hypochondria? What if I love sleep but sleep doesn’t love me?!

Well I’m sorry but that just won’t do. I’m not a quitter, I will achieve this elusive thing called the perfect night’s sleep. Obviously, I know there are no quick fixes but implementing a few changes in my evening routine can certainly help. I’ve spoken about my New Year resolution to relax more which you can read about here and now I want to reap the benefits of a sleep mist.

Owen Drew Sleep Mist

Owen Drew candles really are the epitome of luxury and when I heard he was releasing a sleep spray, my tired little self could not wait. The perfect sleep aid, the Owen Drew Sleep Mist contains a secret blend of essential oils renowned for their therapeutic properties. The sublime mix of English lavender, Indonesian patchouli and ylang-ylang, has been expertly formulated to ease insomnia and times of anxiety. It could not be more fitting to assist the alleviation of built up stress.

The Perfect Night’s Sleep

Best of all, the only thing you need to do is spritz. Forget long-winded bedtime rituals, all you need to do is lightly spray across your pillow, room or wherever you desire and just breathe in the soothing fragrance. The nozzle disperses the ideal amount of mist as well. Not too harsh and not too fine, it leaves a light veil of scent allowing you to calmly drift off to sleep. When I do have a spare five minutes, my favourite thing to do is use this as part of my evening skincare routine. After applying my favourite cleansing balm, I run a soft muslin cloth under hot water and gently spritz my sleep mist on one side. I then place it over my face and enjoy the aroma before wiping away my makeup. Trust me, it’s pure bliss.

I honestly can’t explain how gorgeous this smells but you better believe I’m going to try. The lavender is delightfully floral yet still soft, with a slight zing synonymous with fresh lavender blooms. The sensual intertwining of patchouli gives this mist a heady depth that seems to act as an invitation into the cosiness of a warm bed. Finished off with the delicate sweetness of ylang-ylang, the Owen Drew Sleep Mist has so many fragrance levels it keeps your olfactory senses entertained so your mind can finally let go.

Owen Drew Candles Sleep Mist and English Rose candle

Just like Owen Drew candles, the sleep mist is made with pure essential oils packaged in a classically chic bottle. It’s the ideal bedside companion to my luxury ceramic oil burner or my new blushing pink English Rose candle. In my opinion it’s totally worth £25 (100ml) and will last me ages. Plus can you really put a price on the perfect night’s sleep?

Sleep tight,

Captial B Lips Pout
