When it comes to spending time on my hair I can count the number of minutes I take each day on a single hand, one. One minute. My unruly mane gets shoved into a bun so I don’t have to deal with it and I dread the days where dry shampoo will no longer suffice.
Even after the trials and tribulations of rinse, lather repeat, it takes a lot to tame my curly hair. Leave-in conditioners, serums and sprays, I’ve tried everything, only for them to get lost in a drawer unused weeks later. I get so exasperated with my hair at times, I’ve actually considered shaving it all off! There’s one particular section at the back of my head that is seriously becoming my mortal enemy. In fact I’m pretty sure it mocks me as I stare at it sticking out of my head, neither straight or a defined curl just pure frazzled strands. What’s worse is that nothing seems to help unless I apply at least fifty products and don’t expose it to the notorious British weather. Is it too much to ask for affordable haircare products that cleanse, moisturise and eliminate all my unwanted frizz?
*Natural World pops head round corner* Not at all! We have just the thing for you, the Natural World Brazilian Keratin Smoothing Therapy collection.
Hmmmm sounds interesting. Well let’s see what this range is all about.
Natural World is a London haircare brand created by hair and beauty experts. Their main ethos is to provide top-performing products that are made from a minimum of 95% natural ingredients. With seven ranges in total, each one has different specialised ingredients that aim to address specific hair concerns. I was sent the Brazilian Keratin range which is infused with bio-mimetic keratin. This clever little ingredient claims to mimic the main component of hair providing targeted repair of even the most damaged strands. By smoothing the hair surface, these products are said to help control frizz and restore shine and softness. The Brazilian Keratin range also contains a wonderful blend of rosemary, lemongrass, orange and ylang-ylang essential oils. It smells really fresh and very similar to the professional haircare ranges you find in salons.
The packaging certainly packs a punch in vibrant orange. Combined with black accent features, it does look more fitting for the car cleaner isle than the beauty section. However, it’s the inside that counts right?
Let’s take a moment to appreciate the pump function on the 1L bottle. I know getting shampoo out of a bottle isn’t exactly rocket science but I can’t be the only one who finds it satisfying to dispense as much as you need without making mess? Two pumps is all I require with this shampoo, which is nothing considering the mass of my lion sized mane. It’s beautifully creamy and lathers up nicely to give that ultra clean feel without drying out my scalp.
Most conditioners I’ve tried just coat my hair making it appear smoother and feel softer. This one seems to penetrate each strand and actually, well, condition my locks. The fragrance is stronger than the shampoo so sensitive noses beware, but it’s certainly not an overpowering scent. It’s very lightweight yet still really creamy and again, two pumps was all I needed. This may be the first time my shampoo and conditioner finish at the same time! That means I really have my life together right?!
My coarse, lacklustre curls have been calling out for a hair treatment oil so I couldn’t wait to give this one a whirl. It contains the same active ingredients as the shampoo and conditioner so your hair gets the full keratin treatment. Best applied on damp hair, I gently squeeze out any excess water and pour a little oil (size of £2 coin) into the palm of my hand. Once warmed between my fingers, I run it through the lengths of my hair and on any areas in desperate need of taming (basically my whole head).
Nothing else is on my hair in these photos except for the three products spoken about here. Essentially all I’ve done is washed my hair! To me it is honestly mind-blowing that I can get definition without any styling products.
On top of that, usually the only products that have made any noticeable change are pricier than just a few quid. However, Natural World haircare has made my hair feel stronger and my curls sleeker at just £17 for all three items. Don’t forget we’re talking 1 litre bottles of shampoo and conditioner here as well! What’s even better, is that Natural World haircare is available to buy from Tesco, so you can easily pop a bottle in your trolly during your weekly shop.
Oh and that frizzy section of hair? It’s actually beginning to transform into delicate soft waves that improves with every single wash.
Looks like I don’t need to get the razor out just yet!
