I’ve been thinking about what I’m going to do over this time period and how to get the most out of it.
Being the final 6 months of my PhD, I will have to start writing my thesis now instead of later but to break that time up with more fun things (not that science isn’t fun 🙄). I’m thinking baking, play the piano and experimenting with makeup! It doesn’t matter that no one is going to see my makeup or hear me play, I’m doing it for me but at the same time I’m not going to force myself to do to anything I don’t feel like or feel pressured to learn something new or start something big just because we have this time.
I think it’s important to take a break and reset without anything or anyone sucking your energy. Only do things that you really want to and help you feel better now and for the future when this is over.
What are your plans for lockdown?

Who else loves earrings?! I really need to wear th Who else loves earrings?! I really need to wear them more often because 1. Jabbing them through the piercing that has been empty for months is no fun and games 😂 and 2. They just elevate your look to the next level!! Seriously, whether they’re long, studs, gold, sparkly, colourful, patterned, they make me feel so put together. 2020 is my year for accessorising!
Gifted| Back to work and I’m really not here for Gifted| Back to work and I’m really not here for it! What I am here for is these natural Wispies eyelashes from @ardellbeauty. I do love false lashes but because I don’t have a lot of lid space, I find they always look heavy and unnatural on me so I give up and they get shoved in a drawer. That’s why I was dubious at first with these but the second I put them on, I fell in love. The natural style adds volume to my lashes without looking heavy and really do pass as being my own, even in person!! They’re easy to put on as the band is nice and flexible and stay put throughout the day. These are my lashes for sure! Have you tried Ardell lashes before?

Charlotte Tilbury Magic Cream and Flawless Filter

Getting that glow with Charlotte Tilbury

I’m no novice when it comes to highlighter. I live for strobing and blinding cheekbone no matter the colour or finish. Whether it’s shimmering champagne, glittery gold or even prismatic amethyst, the bolder the better.

However, more recently I decided I wanted to forego the glitter and venture into the world of ultimate dewiness. I wanted that “lit from within” look. Radiant skin, that glows from every angle and basically makes me look like a supermodel.

With the potential to come out more greasy gal than glowing goddess, I knew I needed a professional. If anyone knows how to get the perfect glow it’s Charlotte Tilbury. She is the queen of healthy, dewy glowing skin and the master of the no-makeup makeup look!

Armed with a selection of her most popular products, I set out to get THE ULTIMATE GLOW.

Charlotte Tilbury Magic Cream

First things first, truly radiant skin starts with the perfect base, your skin. CT’s Magic Cream aims to treat and transform your skin with it’s coveted secret formula. This moisturiser is said to lift your complexion and give your skin a much needed boost of hydration. I think we can all agree the packaging is stunning, rose gold lid in a simple yet elegant art deco style pot. It screams luxury and at £70 for 50 ml, this magic cream better be just that.

When I first opened the pot, I was actually thrown back to my teenage days of using Nivea. It’s a thick cream with a subtle floral scent, which is in part due to the spf 15. Since I have such oily skin, I tend to use this as a treat or when my skin is feeling particularly parched. Just a pea-sized amount is enough to leave my cheeks feeling soft and moisturised all day.

I can see how the hefty price tag would put a lot of people off buying this product. If you’re not the kind of person to spend more than £15 on a moisturiser, this one was never going to be for you. However if you’re in the mood to flash the cash, I have tried both CT’s Magic Cream and La Mer’s famous moisturiser and Charlotte Tilbury wins hands down. It’s light and absorbs very quickly, leaving no shiny residue at all. It really does soothe my skin and creates that smooth base for my following makeup products.

Charlotte Tilbury Wonder Glow

Remember the days when we all used to wear foundation without primer? What savages we were! Charlotte Tilbury’s Wonder Glow is the ideal foundation base for those wanting to achieve natural radiant looking skin. A light gold liquid, Wonder Glow glides across your skin, highlighting all the right places. It looks very gold on first appearance but when smoothed out across your face gives the most gorgeous sun-kissed finish. It reminds me of Becca’s backlight priming filter but with the subtle addition of glitter gold specks. I like to use Wonder Glow before my foundation to add warmth and even out my complexion. The Charlotte Tilbury website even has a neat little tool that allows you to see what this primer looks like on a variety of skin tones.

Charlotte Tilbury Flawless Filter & Filmstar Bronze and Glow

After applying my foundation (The Ordinary Serum Foundation 1.2 YG Light) I added a swipe of the incredible Hollywood Flawless Filter. This product is so amazing I can’t do it justice in one small sentence. It gives me the most perfect dewy skin I’ve ever had. The only way to describe it is a flawless filter in a bottle!

I then enhanced my cheekbones with the Filmstar Bronze and Glow. This gorgeous compact comes in light to medium for those with fair and olive skin tones and a medium to dark version for those with a deeper complexion. As someone who lies 100% on the beige scale on skin colours this palette gets surprisingly mixed feelings from me.

The bronze or “Sculpt” shade is a very light, almost cool shade of tan. I can see how it would be ideal for those of you with porcelain skin. On me it is very very subtle, almost but not quite identical to my natural colour. However, since I have literally no cheekbone to speak of, building up the sculpt shade just under my cheeks give the subtle illusion of definition. The medium to dark would be too heavy on my skin but this lighter version gives a more realistic finish to my classic round face shape. For this reason, it won’t be the first thing I pop in my basket when it runs out, but for those of you who struggle to find the perfect contour, this is it.

The “highlight” shade is a dreamy champagne shade that when added on top of my flawless filter adds that extra little je ne sais quoi that I love from a classic highlighter. Both shades a buttery soft and the little mirror makes it an ideal and very fashionable travel piece.

Finishing Touches

I finished off with a flick of Charlotte Tilbury’s Feline Flick eyeliner and Pillow Talk Lipstick. I haven’t used eyeliner since high school but this was ridiculously easy to apply. Honestly, on the first attempt I managed to achieve two seriously smooth flicks!! The Matte Revolution lipstick in Pillow Talk is not only the perfect pink but stops the whole look from being too shiny. It feels beyond comfortable for a matte finish lipstick and completes my natural makeup look with that perfect glow.

There’s so much I want to try from Charlotte Tilbury! I only hear about good things from the brand! My collection is teeny tiny but I want to expand that (with a lot of splurging haha) I’m really tempted to get the flawless filter! The photos are gorgeous too!
