I’ve been thinking about what I’m going to do over this time period and how to get the most out of it.
Being the final 6 months of my PhD, I will have to start writing my thesis now instead of later but to break that time up with more fun things (not that science isn’t fun 🙄). I’m thinking baking, play the piano and experimenting with makeup! It doesn’t matter that no one is going to see my makeup or hear me play, I’m doing it for me but at the same time I’m not going to force myself to do to anything I don’t feel like or feel pressured to learn something new or start something big just because we have this time.
I think it’s important to take a break and reset without anything or anyone sucking your energy. Only do things that you really want to and help you feel better now and for the future when this is over.
What are your plans for lockdown?

Who else loves earrings?! I really need to wear th Who else loves earrings?! I really need to wear them more often because 1. Jabbing them through the piercing that has been empty for months is no fun and games 😂 and 2. They just elevate your look to the next level!! Seriously, whether they’re long, studs, gold, sparkly, colourful, patterned, they make me feel so put together. 2020 is my year for accessorising!
Gifted| Back to work and I’m really not here for Gifted| Back to work and I’m really not here for it! What I am here for is these natural Wispies eyelashes from @ardellbeauty. I do love false lashes but because I don’t have a lot of lid space, I find they always look heavy and unnatural on me so I give up and they get shoved in a drawer. That’s why I was dubious at first with these but the second I put them on, I fell in love. The natural style adds volume to my lashes without looking heavy and really do pass as being my own, even in person!! They’re easy to put on as the band is nice and flexible and stay put throughout the day. These are my lashes for sure! Have you tried Ardell lashes before?

Rodial Vit C Skincare Range
April 22, 2018 Skin Care•Skin Deep

Rodial Vit C Brightening Skincare Range

I didn’t know good skin until I started using Rodial. From Dragon’s Blood, Bee Venom to the luxuriously named Pink Diamond range, I love them all. No matter how many skincare products I try, I always come back to Rodial.

My love affair began the moment I started using the Super Acids X-treme Cleanser. This chartreuse bottle took pride of place on my bathroom shelf and worked wonders from the first wash. Packed with fruit acids to brighten and improve elasticity, glycolic acid acid to exfoliate it was my wonder cleanser. A soft gel texture that always made my skin feel clean but never dry. I loved it so much I’ve repurchased it several times, something I’ve never done with any other cleanser.

So you can imagine my horror when I found out my beloved cleanser was being discontinued. Worse than that, the whole Rodial Super Acids range was being replaced by a new, different collection. Naturally I wanted to cry and quickly stocked up on not only the cleanser but many of the other Super Acids products. After a lot of denial and tears I decided ultimately I needed to accept change was coming and the new collection needed to be tested.

Rodial Vit C Brightening Skincare Range

Hailed as the new and improved Super Acids, the Vit C collection contains all the same active ingredients and more. Packaged in a vibrant orange, the first items in this range include a cleanser, cleansing pads and face mask. As well as the AHAs and glycolic acids, the Vit C range contains, yes you guessed it vitamin C.

The vitamin C in this range is in the form of ethyl ascorbic acid. This stable derivative has excellent skin brightening properties making this range perfect for those who want radiant skin. Let’s get down to the nitty gritty science part. Whilst pure ascorbic acid needs other factors to penetrate the skin, the added ethyl group allows this form to enter the dermis by itself. As well as brightening activity, the added vitamin C increases collagen production and enhances the elasticity of the skin.

All of the Rodial Vit C products have a fresh subtle fragrance of blood orange, which I find to be the perfect pick me up in the morning. This range is gentle enough to be used on sensitive skin but is perfect for my dull complexion that is in desperate need of exfoliation.

Rodial Vit C Brightening Cleanser

A daily gel cleanser, this was going to be the make or break product for me. I love the consistency and in a lot of ways it is similar to its predecessor but much lighter. It glides onto the skin and lathers just enough to get that deep clean feel. Considering how gentle it is, this cleanser does an excellent job of smoothing out your complexion. My skin always feels grimy and in need of exfoliation and this is the perfect solution to quickly use before I head out to work.

The only thing I’m not sold on is the pump. The Rodial Super Acids cleanser had a nice long pump that dispensed a generous amount to cover your whole face. I find I have to get 3-4 pumps before I have enough to properly clean my skin.

Rodial Vit C Brightening Cleansing Pads

Another new alternative to the Super Acids range, these pads are a lazy lifestyle dream. Easy to use and apply, the lightweight material is infused with 0.5% salicylic acid and 1% fruit acids. The Rodial Vit C Brightening Cleansing Pads are quick and easy and a great travel essential. One pad is all you need for your whole face and there’s no need to wash your skin after application. They’re particularly effective on oily and spot prone skin as the acid complex retextures and prevents blemishes.

Rodial Vit C Brightening Mask

I adore face masks like this one. Completely different from your traditional clay mask, this is a thick gel that you leave on for 15-20 minutes. The pump is genius, dispensing just the right amount as you press down on the tub. This brightening mask has the highest concentration of fruit acids compared to the other products at a whopping 10%. It also includes 5% vitamin C which is low enough to use on sensitive skin.

Once applied, the mask is absorbed into your skin but still leaves a fine layer. There is a slight tingling sensation when used but it’s more of a fresh feeling rather than a burn. I can’t say I noticed a huge brightening effect after using this mask. Hopefully with time, I will start to notice more long-term results. Once removed, my skin is left feeling baby soft and smooth. Used 1 to 2 times a week, my skin feels better prepared for any moisturiser and makeup I apply afterwards.

The Verdict

Personally, I think all three do just as good a job as the Super Acids range – Hoorah!

I think this range is an excellent way to introduce AHAs into your regime if you’re new to acids. The concentration of acids is not as strong as those you would get with a professional peel but enough to notice an effect. So many brands these days are bringing out new acid based exfoliation products, it’s hard to know which ones are right for you. The founder of Rodial, has been utilising the benefits of acids in her products from the very beginning. Maria and her scientific team spend a long time researching the right ingredients so you are able to use them in a safe way in the comfort of your own home.

This collection has 100% fuelled my love for Rodial skincare. If you’re unfamiliar with Rodial, I can see how the names might sound intense. However, each range addresses specific skin concerns so you have the most effective skincare to hand. The new Vit C collection is no different and is a welcome addition to my bathroom cabinet.

Boost your vit c the Rodial way,

Captial B Lips Pout
