Whether it’s drinks with friends or even just the latest fashion trend, I suffer badly with FOMO. If there’s one thing that has me green with envy more than anything else it’s London. London is an incredible city with restaurants galore, activities for days and instagrammable locations aplenty.
Now don’t get me wrong, I love being an honorary Scouser but living so far away from all the capital has to offer, I feel as if I’m missing out. Scrolling through photo after photo of delicious food, fancy cocktails and fun events makes me jellier than a pack of Haribo. Yes, I could take regular trips down south but have you seen the price of train tickets lately!? I’d be broke before you can say “flower wall”. However, just as I’m about to resign myself to a life of FOMO, Liverpool has answered my prayers in the form of The Florist.
Residing in an 1850’s Grade II listed building, The Florist is situated on the edge of the Georgian Quarter. One of my favourite areas of Liverpool, it’s the perfect setting for what’s certain to be THE place to go.
To celebrate the opening of the most instagrammable restaurant in Liverpool, The Florist held a magnificent two day extravaganza filled with cocktails, food and of course flowers. A flower lovers dream, it’s a sight to behold. Flowers as far as the eye can see, floral art work and even a blossom tree greet you at the entrance. Through the double doors and up the striking central staircase leads you to the most gorgeous flower wall. Frilly pink and white roses act as the perfect backdrop to The Florist’s motto “Let it Bloom”. However, The Florist isn’t just stylish, it also has the substance to match. Taking you on a sensory journey through the world of flowers, every sight, sound, taste and fragrance has been expertly selected.
Floral Cocktails and Culinary Dishes
The cocktail menu at The Florist is inspired by the key floristry styles: Ikebana, English Garden and Modern Contemporary. My particular favourite has to be… oh wait I don’t have a favourite, they’re all tasty! Saying that, I do recommend the Rhubarb in Bloom which is deliciously sweet, sharp and very moreish. The Peaches and Prosecco is another must. An exciting twist on the classic Aperol Spritz, this cocktail is bittersweet with Aperol with the added juiciness of peach liqueur.
The Florist menu is equally delectable. As well as many classic favourites with a twist, there’s something for everyone with a selection of vegan, non-gluten and dairy free dishes. At weekends you can also treat yourself to brunch or a Sunday Roast that has the largest Yorkshire puddings I’ve ever seen. Every dish and drink is a celebration all by itself and you can even go one step further and celebrate in style by hiring the private dining room.
Stuck for something to do at the weekend or simply want to learn a new craft? The Florist offer expertly-led masterclasses for groups of 6 plus. Learn from the mixologist masters themselves with a choice of three different themed cocktail experiences. If cocktails aren’t your thing, there’s also gin masterclasses as well as the opportunity to learn more about the 65 ales The Florist has on offer!
You can even turn your hand to the art of floristry. This masterclass will guide you through the different elements needed to create your own bespoke bouquet. I had the chance to make my own flower arrangement full of yellows and pinks, adding my own unique twist for a bouquet that is completely me.
Centred on the fundamental principals of floristry, The Florist allows you to discover a world that charms each of your senses. Its lively atmosphere and decadent furnishing make this restaurant the ultimate haunt. I’m already planning my next visit so that flower wall better be ready for me!
