Well here we are LOCKDOWN! I hope you’re all doi Well here we are LOCKDOWN! I hope you’re all doing ok?
I’ve been thinking about what I’m going to do over this time period and how to get the most out of it.
Being the final 6 months of my PhD, I will have to start writing my thesis now instead of later but to break that time up with more fun things (not that science isn’t fun 🙄). I’m thinking baking, play the piano and experimenting with makeup! It doesn’t matter that no one is going to see my makeup or hear me play, I’m doing it for me but at the same time I’m not going to force myself to do to anything I don’t feel like or feel pressured to learn something new or start something big just because we have this time.
I think it’s important to take a break and reset without anything or anyone sucking your energy. Only do things that you really want to and help you feel better now and for the future when this is over.
What are your plans for lockdown?

The @jackieaina @anastasiabeverlyhills eyeshadow palette is incredible! The colours are soooooo pigmented but still really wearable. It’s like a work of art itself.

Who else loves earrings?! I really need to wear th Who else loves earrings?! I really need to wear them more often because 1. Jabbing them through the piercing that has been empty for months is no fun and games 😂 and 2. They just elevate your look to the next level!! Seriously, whether they’re long, studs, gold, sparkly, colourful, patterned, they make me feel so put together. 2020 is my year for accessorising!
Gifted| Back to work and I’m really not here for Gifted| Back to work and I’m really not here for it! What I am here for is these natural Wispies eyelashes from @ardellbeauty. I do love false lashes but because I don’t have a lot of lid space, I find they always look heavy and unnatural on me so I give up and they get shoved in a drawer. That’s why I was dubious at first with these but the second I put them on, I fell in love. The natural style adds volume to my lashes without looking heavy and really do pass as being my own, even in person!! They’re easy to put on as the band is nice and flexible and stay put throughout the day. These are my lashes for sure! Have you tried Ardell lashes before?

Natural Looking Skin with Becca Cosmetics

Early mornings, staring at a computer all day and staying up late watching Love Island have taken it’s toll on my skin. Combined with this never ending summer heat (I’m not complaining I promise), my face is an oil slick with dark circles that give off a definite Grudge vibe.

It’s not a pretty sight and apart from sorting my life out by drinking more water (I just want iced coffee!!) and going to bed early and missing muggy Megan’s antics (not going to happen), makeup is my only answer. Except I think we all know applying a full face in this weather is a big no no. Therefore I need light, easy products that really work and last all day. For me the only brand who can help me achieve that natural healthy looking skin is Becca Cosmetics.

Becca Cosmetics are all about finding the right glow for you. No matter your age, style or complexion, Becca products aim to give you truly radient natural looking skin. Their backlight priming filter is a cult classic and for good reasons. Adding a gorgeous natural warmth to your skin it creates the perfect base for your foundation and has been a firm staple in my makeup bag for years.
However, getting hold of Becca Cosmetics hasn’t always been the easiest for us Brits. There are various online stockists but if you wanted to try before you buy, short of booking a flight to the nearest Sephora, you’re screwed. That’s all just changed with the opening of Glow Bars in John Lewis stores throughout the country. Trying not to get too excited, I rushed down to the launch event to seek out my Becca glow.

Becca Anti-Fatigue Under Eye Primer

I’ve tried many different makeup products in an attempt to hide the lack of sleep but nothing works! Concealer after concealer that’s been brushed, buffed and patted on to no avail. No matter the brand, no matter the application it just sits on top looking caky. It seeps into fine lines and only makes me look older. So the first thing I wanted to try from Becca was the Anti-Fatigue Under Eye Primer.

Don’t be too scared by the bright blue balm because this little compact is the first step to a perfect base. Infused with cucumber, green tea and caffeine, this primer soothes and hydrates throughout the day. Not only does this primer blur any fine lines but it also works long-term to reduce puffy eyes.

A quick press and whirl allows you to warm a small amount onto your fingertip to gently pat under your eye. Feeling very much like a lip balm, the texture is so smooth and velvety it effortlessly glides along the skin.  I find it incredibly easy to apply and the colour is actually transparent so there’s no need to worry you’ll turn into Smurfette. In terms of dark circles it provides zero coverage but the point of this balm is prep your skin for makeup application and is a much more appropriate primer for delicate under eye skin.

Becca Under Eye brightening Corrector

Following on from the primer, I use the Becca Under Eye Brightening Corrector. This is my first time trying a corrector and I have to say I am very impressed. It comes in two shades depending on your skin tone, a light to medium (I have this one) and a medium to dark. On first appearance both look quite light but with these correctors it’s all about luminescence. They don’t provide a colour per say but more of an illuminating light that either has pink or peach undertones so those of you with either very fair or very dark skin needn’t worry.

Just like the primer, this corrector creme melts on application so you never feel like you’re dragging your skin. It’s infused with ultra-fine illuminators that instantly brighten your under eye and draw attention away from lines and wrinkles. I notice the difference straight away when applying this corrector, it’s amazing. Instead of covering up my dark circles, it lifts and brightens them for a much more natural healthy look. Exactly what I want.

You could follow up with a concealer if you need more coverage but for me these two are enough. My eyes are brighter and appear more awake. I like the natural look of just the primer and corrector, as well as the feel of not having too many products weighing down my skin.

Becca Cosmetics Hydra-Mist

Becca Hydra-Mist

Following foundation, I set my skin with the Becca Hydra-Mist. I have lots of powders and at first I was sure I didn’t need another. However Hydra-Mist is a game changer. When one of the Becca ladies applied this to my skin, I asked her if she was using a wet brush. An odd statement but with every pat, it felt moist and I was very confused. This she said is the beauty of Hydra-Mist.

Formulated with 50% water and glycerin, this powder is a skin’s best friend. This powder creates a mist-like sensation that is comforting and hydrating without being too wet. It really is a joy to apply as you don’t feel like you’re drying out your skin. It creates the perfect balance between a full-on matte finish and a dewy glow. The powder itself is weightless and really sets my makeup for a smooth invisible finish. It doesn’t look caky and for someone who has a very oily t-zone it actually last throughout the day.

Finished off with the most gorgeous vibrant blush in Tigerlily and some serious glow with the Shimmering Skin Perfector in Prosecco Pop and my skin looks so healthy. For me this is the perfect summer base. It’s easy to apply, feels comfortable and last all day. It’s the kind of radiance I’ve wanted to achieve for a long time. I love a full face but when it comes to every day makeup I want something simple. Absolutely none of these photos of me have been edited and I think the look of my skin speaks for itself. I want my skin to look like skin and for me to feel like myself but better and Becca is the answer.

I always hear so much about Becca but I’m actually yet to pick anything up. I’m always tempted by the minis in Space NK, but never actually purchase anything.
