Well here we are LOCKDOWN! I hope you’re all doi Well here we are LOCKDOWN! I hope you’re all doing ok?
I’ve been thinking about what I’m going to do over this time period and how to get the most out of it.
Being the final 6 months of my PhD, I will have to start writing my thesis now instead of later but to break that time up with more fun things (not that science isn’t fun 🙄). I’m thinking baking, play the piano and experimenting with makeup! It doesn’t matter that no one is going to see my makeup or hear me play, I’m doing it for me but at the same time I’m not going to force myself to do to anything I don’t feel like or feel pressured to learn something new or start something big just because we have this time.
I think it’s important to take a break and reset without anything or anyone sucking your energy. Only do things that you really want to and help you feel better now and for the future when this is over.
What are your plans for lockdown?
For me makeup is art. Your face is the canvas and For me makeup is art. Your face is the canvas and the fact you can take any colour/finish/texture and create something that completely reflects your personality and mood is amazing and yes maybe it also fuels my need to have so many pretty palettes!! The @jackieaina @anastasiabeverlyhills eyeshadow palette is incredible! The colours are soooooo pigmented but still really wearable. It’s like a work of art itself.

Who else loves earrings?! I really need to wear th Who else loves earrings?! I really need to wear them more often because 1. Jabbing them through the piercing that has been empty for months is no fun and games 😂 and 2. They just elevate your look to the next level!! Seriously, whether they’re long, studs, gold, sparkly, colourful, patterned, they make me feel so put together. 2020 is my year for accessorising!
Gifted| Back to work and I’m really not here for Gifted| Back to work and I’m really not here for it! What I am here for is these natural Wispies eyelashes from @ardellbeauty. I do love false lashes but because I don’t have a lot of lid space, I find they always look heavy and unnatural on me so I give up and they get shoved in a drawer. That’s why I was dubious at first with these but the second I put them on, I fell in love. The natural style adds volume to my lashes without looking heavy and really do pass as being my own, even in person!! They’re easy to put on as the band is nice and flexible and stay put throughout the day. These are my lashes for sure! Have you tried Ardell lashes before?

Trinny London Stacks

Trinny London – Be part of the Trinny Tribe

Trinny Woodall is a name many of you will recognise from the hit makeover show of the noughties, What Not To Wear.  I for one was a huge fan and would tune in every episode for miraculous fashion makeovers and a no nonsense attitude on how not to dress. It was really a first of it’s kind in terms of explaining how to pick the perfect outfits for your body shape and now, nearly twenty years later even though styles have changed, both my mother and I still flick through the WNTW books for what is timeless advice on dressing to compliment your figure.

Whilst Trinny’s fashion guru status is well known, what you may not know is that she also owns her own cosmetic line. After improvising with her own makeup kit for years, mixing different shades and different formulas, the idea for Trinny London was born. A collection of stackable pots filled with the ideal range of colours to suit all complexions.

Building your very own Trinny London stack couldn’t be easier. Over 3,000 women have been analysed so every one can find their ideal colour palette. Simply fill out the questions on the Match2Me section on the website and choose from the variety shades available, for makeup that is perfect for you.

Trinny London – BFF Cream Skin Perfector

I had no idea what to expect from this cream but from the moment I used it, I was hooked. Applied like any other moisturiser, this skin perfector can be used for instant hydration with the added protection of SPF30. The magic of BFF cream is all down to pigment micro-capsules that adapt to your skin tone using body heat and oxygen.

It comes in a squeeze tube with an easy to use pump, that dispenses just the right amount for my whole face. I love packaging like this as it means you can really get your money’s worth and squeeze out every last drop and trust me, you’ll want to as it’s amazing. Although it does provide colour to your skin it should not be mistaken for a foundation. Those with acne or problematic skin might find this doesn’t provide enough coverage alone but it will certainly help your skin look radiant. This cream glides onto my skin beautifully and instantly gives my complexion a gorgeous glow. It’s a superhero moisturiser and leaves my skin looking like skin but better. You can even purchase a T-Pot to decant your BFF cream into and add to your stack. For a natural every day base, that can be applied in seconds, this really works wonders.

Trinny London – Goldon Glow in Soala

I’m a huge bronzer fan as I hate to look to pasty but finding the right shade can be problematic. Not wanting to look too orange but still have a shade dark enough is particularly tricky.

Designed to be used with your fingers, the Golden Glow can be built up as much as you desire. The cream formula is very silky and it’s easy to pick up lots of pigment with just a few swirls of your finger. Focusing on where the sun would naturally catch, I applied dabs of bronze along my cheekbone, forehead and sides of nose. It’s easy to blend and the resulting finish is a lovely healthy glow. Soala is the darker of the two shades available and whilst it looks very dark in the pot, I assure you I wasn’t left looking like a streaky tangerine!

Trinny London – Eye2Eye in Fortune

Ok stop the press, I’m in love! These cream eyeshadows are incredible. Silky smooth with an incredible colour payoff. Fortune is a shimmering light copper shade that is perfect for every season. It’s subtle enough to wear during the day and can be built up for a gorgeous statement smokey eye. I always use a primer underneath as my lids are very oily and once my shadow is on, it lasts all day. The great thing about the Eye2Eye shades is that anyone has the time to use these. It literally takes seconds to pop across your lid, with no messy fallout just an absolute dream to blend.

Trinny London – Lip2Cheek in Freddie

Lip2Cheek is the hassle-free way to give your complexion some colour. The texture is a little firmer than the Golden Glow, which makes perfect sense as you don’t really want your lipstick slipping all over the place but does make it a little harder to use as a blush. However, a few more seconds warming your finger on the surface and blended on the apples of your cheek makes your face come alive. Freddie is the perfect terracotta. Not too red and not too brown, it’s simply stunning.

Trinny London – Lip Light in Cicely

Lip Lights are a transparent sheer base with a multi toned 3D pearlescent finish. They go over everything as well as working on their own. Cicely is an extremely wearable shade of rose gold, with silver flecks running throughout. Using the pad of my finger I find it gives my lips a subtle shimmer and sparkle but can be built up to give much more of an opaque, almost metallic lip.  It also contains menthol giving my lips a lovely refreshing feeling once applied. Lip Lights don’t feel heavy or granular. The colour and consistency is exactly what I look for in a lip product and the finish is just magical.

Trinny London – Lip Glow in Lyla

Lip Glow might possibly be the best gloss I’ve ever tried. Yup, really. Another fantastically easy to work with formula, it has none of the stick of a classic lip gloss but has just enough tackiness to have some serious holding power. Although bright in the pot, the Lip Glow provides a sheer wash of colour with Lyla being a gorgeous coral/apricot that adds a little bit of warmth to my lips. It’s very lightweight considering the lovely glossy finish and enhances my lips making them appear fuller. I’ll definitely be repurchasing this when it runs out!

Trinny London cosmetics is certainly a new found love of mine. Being able to stack my makeup and take it with me wherever I go is not only convenient but extremely practically. All the formulas are beyond creamy and make applying makeup an absolute doddle. They are designed to be used with your fingers but a dense bristle brush would work just as well. What’s even better is knowing that no matter which product I pick from my Match2Me options, it’s always going to compliment my skin. If you’re short on time, a makeup novice or just want to look a bit more “done” without having to wear layers and layers of products, Trinny London is for you.
