Well here we are LOCKDOWN! I hope you’re all doi Well here we are LOCKDOWN! I hope you’re all doing ok?
I’ve been thinking about what I’m going to do over this time period and how to get the most out of it.
Being the final 6 months of my PhD, I will have to start writing my thesis now instead of later but to break that time up with more fun things (not that science isn’t fun 🙄). I’m thinking baking, play the piano and experimenting with makeup! It doesn’t matter that no one is going to see my makeup or hear me play, I’m doing it for me but at the same time I’m not going to force myself to do to anything I don’t feel like or feel pressured to learn something new or start something big just because we have this time.
I think it’s important to take a break and reset without anything or anyone sucking your energy. Only do things that you really want to and help you feel better now and for the future when this is over.
What are your plans for lockdown?
For me makeup is art. Your face is the canvas and For me makeup is art. Your face is the canvas and the fact you can take any colour/finish/texture and create something that completely reflects your personality and mood is amazing and yes maybe it also fuels my need to have so many pretty palettes!! The @jackieaina @anastasiabeverlyhills eyeshadow palette is incredible! The colours are soooooo pigmented but still really wearable. It’s like a work of art itself.

Who else loves earrings?! I really need to wear th Who else loves earrings?! I really need to wear them more often because 1. Jabbing them through the piercing that has been empty for months is no fun and games 😂 and 2. They just elevate your look to the next level!! Seriously, whether they’re long, studs, gold, sparkly, colourful, patterned, they make me feel so put together. 2020 is my year for accessorising!
Gifted| Back to work and I’m really not here for Gifted| Back to work and I’m really not here for it! What I am here for is these natural Wispies eyelashes from @ardellbeauty. I do love false lashes but because I don’t have a lot of lid space, I find they always look heavy and unnatural on me so I give up and they get shoved in a drawer. That’s why I was dubious at first with these but the second I put them on, I fell in love. The natural style adds volume to my lashes without looking heavy and really do pass as being my own, even in person!! They’re easy to put on as the band is nice and flexible and stay put throughout the day. These are my lashes for sure! Have you tried Ardell lashes before?

Friction Free Shaving Pre-shave Scrub, Shave Cream and Post-shave balm with rose gold razor with blade cover placed in front
May 19, 2019 Skin Care•Skin Deep

Smooth, Remove and Soothe with Friction Free Shaving

If I had a pound for every person who says they enjoy shaving I’d… oh wait I would be broke. Shaving is beyond a chore to me, in fact I actively dread it. Yes the finished result is lovely, silky smooth legs, feeling all dolphin-like with my hair free pins but the actual shaving part is never easy.

I’ve tried waxing and hair removal cream to avoid the blade but my hair is too brittle to properly work with wax and the scent of removal cream is enough to make me pass out! Back to shaving with every stroke leaving sore red bumps and dry flaky shins. What’s even more frustrating is that it doesn’t even matter if I use cheap two blade disposable razors or change the blades frequently, I always without fail nick my skin. That’s when I decided enough was enough and shouted out FFS!

Yup FFS, Friction Free Shaving. A subscription service designed for the perfect shave. FFS say it’s time for a cleaner, easier and cheaper shave. Just a few simple steps to sign up and you can have fresh blades every month at a price far more cost-effective than your average razor.

The Friction Free Shaving Razor

This isn’t just your average razor, this is a ergonomic metal handle, flexible head that fits six diamond coated blades with an aloe vera lubrication strip razor. I loved this razor as soon as I set eyes on it. A beautiful shade of rose gold (also available in silver), the handle is surprisingly weighty, which provides a better grip and more control as you shave. You can even get your razor engraved, making it more personal and hopefully keep people’s mitts off your FFS.

I find the blades glide along my skin effortlessly, removing every hair in one single stroke. For once I don’t feel like I’m damaging my skin when I shave and for the very first time ever, I’ve not cut my skin! In fact, I’ve shaved my legs 2-3 times a week for a month now and not had a single scratch. The red dots where my hair follicles are have all but vanished and I attribute that to the amazing quality of the blades.

The Friction Free Shaving Pre-Shave Scrub

Just like razors, I’ve tried a lot of products that claim to make the whole shaving experience a breeze. I use body scrubs as often as needed but find they’re either too gentle and very ineffective or leave my skin feeling a little raw. Friction Free Shaving Pre-Shaving Scrub is a huge win for me. Made with Manuka honey, almond extract and walnut powder, it’s one of the best I’ve used.

The walnut pieces are fine enough to really exfoliate my skin, removing any rough patches and dry skin but not so big they leave scratches. The honey definitely makes this scrub luxurious and as you massage it around your body, it becomes creamier leaving your skin feeling clean yet moisturised and ready for the next step.

The Friction Free Shaving Mid-Shave Cream

When it comes to shaving, I usually use a shaving foam. Not because I don’t like creams but because I had no idea they existed! I wasn’t sure what to expect when I first used the Friction Free Shaving Mid-Shave Cream, as I felt it wouldn’t provide enough protection against the razor and was convinced it would leave me with sore legs. I couldn’t have been more wrong and this cream is actually genius, although that should come as no surprise considering it’s won an award!

What makes this product special is it’s cationic charge that makes each hair stand on end, allowing for a super close shave. Each tube is also packed with shea butter and coconut oil, so the blades glide over your skin. One tube is more than enough to last the month without having to scrimp on application each time you shave. I can’t get enough of this cream, even though you don’t need a lot. I’m a shave cream convert!

The Friction Free Shaving Post-Shave Balm

For the last step, Friction Free Shaving offer a post-shave balm. I know I should moisturise more than I do (which is almost never), especially after shaving but one of the big reasons I don’t is because whatever I apply stings the second I put it on my skin. My legs especially, are left with minor cuts all over that any product seeps into and makes moisturising uncomfortable.

This shave balm does the exact opposite. The second I apply it to my legs, I can feel it hydrating my skin. It contains almond milk to soothe but for once my legs feel fine after a shave with FFS that using this cream is just an added bonus. The consistency of this balm is lovely, thick and creamy your skin feels beautifully hydrated but still absorbs quickly without leaving any nasty residue.

You can definitely achieve great results with the FFS razor and shaving cream alone. However, I find that following the steps of smooth, remove and soothe with all three products gives me the best shave I’ve ever had. My legs have never felt or looked better!

Friction Free Shaving is the ultimate solution for a problem free shave. Everything from the razor to the handle, to the cruelty free shaving scrubs and creams is designed to leave you with silky smooth skin whilst keeping it perfectly hydrated. You can even mix and match the products you want each month to suit your shaving needs. Plus along with free postage and letterbox friendly packaging, it’s not only more cost effective but by far the least stress-free shave you’ll ever have.

*This set was gifted from Friction Free Shaving in exchange for a review. However, I am already a subscriber to FFS and can’t recommend the products enough.
