Well here we are LOCKDOWN! I hope you’re all doi Well here we are LOCKDOWN! I hope you’re all doing ok?
I’ve been thinking about what I’m going to do over this time period and how to get the most out of it.
Being the final 6 months of my PhD, I will have to start writing my thesis now instead of later but to break that time up with more fun things (not that science isn’t fun 🙄). I’m thinking baking, play the piano and experimenting with makeup! It doesn’t matter that no one is going to see my makeup or hear me play, I’m doing it for me but at the same time I’m not going to force myself to do to anything I don’t feel like or feel pressured to learn something new or start something big just because we have this time.
I think it’s important to take a break and reset without anything or anyone sucking your energy. Only do things that you really want to and help you feel better now and for the future when this is over.
What are your plans for lockdown?
For me makeup is art. Your face is the canvas and For me makeup is art. Your face is the canvas and the fact you can take any colour/finish/texture and create something that completely reflects your personality and mood is amazing and yes maybe it also fuels my need to have so many pretty palettes!! The @jackieaina @anastasiabeverlyhills eyeshadow palette is incredible! The colours are soooooo pigmented but still really wearable. It’s like a work of art itself.

Who else loves earrings?! I really need to wear th Who else loves earrings?! I really need to wear them more often because 1. Jabbing them through the piercing that has been empty for months is no fun and games 😂 and 2. They just elevate your look to the next level!! Seriously, whether they’re long, studs, gold, sparkly, colourful, patterned, they make me feel so put together. 2020 is my year for accessorising!
Gifted| Back to work and I’m really not here for Gifted| Back to work and I’m really not here for it! What I am here for is these natural Wispies eyelashes from @ardellbeauty. I do love false lashes but because I don’t have a lot of lid space, I find they always look heavy and unnatural on me so I give up and they get shoved in a drawer. That’s why I was dubious at first with these but the second I put them on, I fell in love. The natural style adds volume to my lashes without looking heavy and really do pass as being my own, even in person!! They’re easy to put on as the band is nice and flexible and stay put throughout the day. These are my lashes for sure! Have you tried Ardell lashes before?

Pixi Beauty Glow Tonic collection including glow tonic, serum and solid on-the-glow moisturiser
May 26, 2019 Skin Care•Skin Deep

Become a Glow-getter with Pixi Beauty

When it comes to skincare, Pixi Beauty have me blown away. From the more targeted skincare treatments such as the DtoxifEYE under eye patches and T-Zone Peel off Mask to whole skincare ranges (I’m looking at you Rose Collection!), all the products are amazing. Not only is Pixi Beauty cruelty free and affordable, it’s skincare that actually works.

One of my staple items that’s always in my makeup bag is their famous Glow Tonic. This toner contains 5% glycolic acid that exfoliates the face and removes any dead skin cells to reveal a beautifully fresh complexion. It doesn’t sting, it’s not drying and is gently enough to use every day.

I immediately notice the difference if I skip my Glow Tonic step in my regime and couldn’t be without it. So when Pixi Beauty announced a whole new skincare collection centred on the magic of the Glow Tonic, I was beyond ready to give them a whirl and become a glow-getter.*

Glow Tonic Cleansing Gel

Having combination skin with an oily t-zone, I’m a big fan of lighter gel cleansers. The Glow Tonic Cleansing Gel is a very lightweight clear cleanser that contains glycolic acid, horse chestnut extract, aloe and ginseng to help remove impurities as well as refine and brighten your skin.

The consistency of this gel is on the runny side so you do need to be careful you don’t squeeze out too much and waste it. It has a lovely fresh scent that’s not overpowering at all and feels lovely and refreshing. It doesn’t foam or lather up when applied, making it ideal for sensitive skin but you may require an initial cleanse with a balm or specific makeup remover to really get the benefits of this cleanser.

I have to say I still prefer the Pixi Beauty Rose Cream Cleanser, as for me this one is too light and not quite heavy duty enough for my face. However, I think if you’re after a very gentle, every day cleanser with that added exfoliating power, the Glow Tonic Cleansing Gel is for you.

Glow Tonic Serum

Serums are one of my favourite products to use. There’s something about a pump syringe that makes me feel very bougie and is the perfect tool to turbo charge your other skincare products with an added drop or two of serum mixed in.

As with all the products in the Glow Tonic collection, this serum contains glycolic acid to help refine and smooth the skin. Pixi Beauty recommend 2-3 drops massaged onto a cleansed face before moisturiser. For me one drop is perfect for my morning routine, with a double dose in the evening. This is down to the texture of the serum being a little sticky compared to other serums I’ve used, so it does take longer to fully sink into the skin. The scent is another gorgeous subtle floral scent that oddly, reminds me of sap from freshly cut flowers.

After my first time trying this product, I definitely applied too much with the resulting tackiness quite inconvenient and wasn’t sure this was for me. However, after reducing the amount of drops, I use it every single day and have quickly fallen in love with this serum. I’ve noticed my skin is brighter, more radiant and can’t recommend it enough.

Glow Tonic pHenomenal Gel

I’m always on the hunt for a moisturiser that suits my needs and the Glow Tonic pHenomenal Gel may be the one. By far one of the lightest moisturisers I’ve used, this gel just melts into my skin leaving it soft with a dewy non-greasy finish. The pHenomenal Gel has no scent that I can detect, making it another great product for those who aren’t keen on overpowering skincare fragrances. It’s lovely to use day or night for instant hydration and you only need a penny sized amount to feel the cooling and soothing effects on your skin. If you’re looking for something a little more indulgent or something suitable for a very dry complexion, this may not be for you but for me it ticks all the boxes as a great every day moisturiser.

Glow Tonic On-The-Glow Moisture Stick

The Pixi Beauty On-The-Glow moisture stick is simply a genius product. With weather and air-conditioning, I often find my skin needs a little pick me up, a topping up of moisture during the day and this solid moisturiser is fantastic. It’s the perfect travel size to pop in your handbag and use whenever and wherever you need.

The On-The-Glow Moisture Stick is formulated with a unique mix of Vitamin D2, glycolic acid & vitamins to protect, treat and increase moisture levels of the skin. You can use it on your face, body, lips and even to tame fly away hairs. Simply twist and glide to leave your skin super soft and glowing. When applied, this unscented moisturiser has a subtle peach pearlescent finish that gives you a healthy radiant glow.

The Glow Tonic Collection is a fantastic skincare range inspired by Pixi Beauty’s famous Glow Tonic. All containing glycolic acid, they’re the perfect combination of products to exfoliate and brighten your complexion for gorgeously glowing skin. B x
